"The new ambulance for Alice home has arrived. It has been four months since it was ordered. We feel that Lake Forest and the university are to be congratulated on having so modern and artistic a vehicle for caring for the sick and injured who may need transportation.
One year ago last sumer the young ladies of Lake Forest held a fair upon the grounds of Mr. John Hamline. At first the proceeds were intended to endow a children's bed in the hospital. Later it was thought best to invest the funds in an ambulance.
The ambulance is a memorial to Mary Robinson, Ms. Fauntleroy's neice, who was universally beloved in Lake Forest and whose sad death occurred two years ago.
The carriage may be seen at Wenban's Livery. It is the intention of the hospital to charge only a nominal fee covering expense of using. With the exception of Evanston, lake Forest is the only city on the north shore fully equipped with hospital facilities." Lake Forester.February 2, 1901
